fw: NACL holding auditions for female actor, NYC

Saw this, and thought it might be right for somebody-- please respond to them, not to me!

Hello friend of NACL,

NACL is going to be holding auditions (on Saturday, September 27, 5-8pm, in
Brooklyn) to fill a role in our newest performance, ³The Uncanny Appearance
of Sherlock Holmes,² which will have a 3-week run at NYC¹s HERE Arts Center
this December 2-21. Please help us by taking a moment to forward this email
to any performers you think might be interested in helping to re-develop
this role, and perform it with us. I am spreading the information in this
way because you know NACL, and you know how specific and demanding our way
of work is, and so you will likely have a sense of whether or not someone
you know might be interested.

Ideally, the actor will have the following characteristics:

1. Female
2. Physically fit, able (or willing to become able) to perform basic
acrobatic maneuvres.
3. Some musical proficiency, both instrumental and vocal (the acting
ensemble in the show is a rock band, too!)
4. The willingness and availability to develop the role and perform during
our NYC run, and also other future gigs.
5. A nice, generous collaborator, and skilled actor.

The actor will be a member of the ensemble, which means she will play an
assortment of roles in the Holmes mystery (Mrs. Hudson, suspect Belle
Whittaker, Bishop Wilberforce, Agent Simpson of Scotland Yard, and others),
and she will be part of the rock band.
The show is a wild, highly physical, post-modern, rock and roll mystery
play. To learn more about the show, I think the easiest thing is to check
out the show¹s webpage: http://www.nacl.org/sherlock_show.htm

We will begin to integrate the actor into the ensemble for the two weeks
leading up to the show‹ Monday, Nov. 17 thru Sunday, December 30. During
this time, the ensemble will live and work at NACL¹s theatre center in the
Catskills, about 2.5 hours from NYC.

However, I will need to work for about three weeks with the new actor
between now and then, to develop the role. This work will ideally be done
upstate, too, but there is some flexibility of both location and timing of
this preliminary work.

Compensation: The actor will be paid a total of $2000, plus transportation
to/from the Catskillls, plus housing and food while in the Catskills. The
idea/hope is that each actor will then receive $500/week for any subsequent,
post-HERE gigs‹ right now, we are working on (for starters) bringing the
show to New Orleans in late Feb.-early Mar., 2009, and to the Network of
Ensemble Theaters Festival in Blue Lake, CA in June 2009.

The audition will be a combination of NACL physical training exercises,
group singing, and some cold reading from the script. Auditioners should
come prepared to move around, sweat, and have fun for a few hours. If a
person is super interested in auditioning, but can¹t make it on the 27th,
they should just contact me directly so we can speak about a potential
alternate audition time.

Interested actors should contact me via email at brad@nacl.org for more
details, etc.

Thank you for helping out.
I appreciate it.

Warm regards,

Brad
